The Ilford prisoners were eommitted for trial on a charge of murder, and Mrs. Thompson also with feloniously administering poison with intent to commit murder. Mrs. Thompson was carried out in a faint. The Home Office analyst gave evidence that he found traces of an alkaloid in Thompson’s organs, which gave the reactions of a poison. No other poisonous substance was detected. ARTIFICIAL EARTHQUAKES. London, November '2'2. The Cologne correspondent of the Times states that two artificial earthquakes are being produced in the Heidelstein Rhone mountains to-morrow and Saturday by Gottingen University. A huge quantity of explosives will be fired, seismographic institutes recording the movements and sound waves. ■MOTOR-CAR RECORDS. London, November 22. Count Zborowski, driving an eightcylinder Callot motor-car at Brooklands, covered ten miles in '5 min. 11J seconds, and attained 120 miles an hour for half a mile. He broke the kilometre, half-mile, one, two and five-milc records. INDIAN~FRONTIER RAID. Delhi, November 23. All the persons kidnapped in the Maksud raid have been released and have returned safely. A MEW ZEALAND PICTURE. London, November 23. The Queen has purchased Mr. Worsley’s painting, “Evening on the Wanganui ” now loaned to the Imperial Institute.
