DAMAGE BY FIRE.
OUTBREAKS AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington. November 24. Two serious outbreaks -of fire occurred during the night, both in premises in which timber and. joinery work is carried out. The brigade received the first call at 11.31 p.m., to 27 Boulcott Street, where the flames had a strong hold of the upper floor of the two-story wooden and corrugated iron building occupied by R. E. 'Flan’s furniture works. Before the fire was- suppressed the flames spread to the adjoining motor garage and living quarters -of F. I. Colvin. both of which, with the furniture works, were gutted. Damage, mainly by water, was also done to the engineering works of R. C. Oollins on the ground floor. The building was insured for £650. and the contents of the furniture works for £950. A second cal] was- received by the brigade at 2.25 a.m.. to the premises of Brownlees Limited, timber merchants and joiners at Kilbirnie. The timber mill and machinery was severely damaged. The building was insured for £2300 and the contents for £lOOO.
