Intending exhibitors at the New Plymouth Horticultural Society’s show next Thursday and Friday are reminded that entries close with the secretary on Monday, at 8 p.m. There are 39 classes for vegetables, and there is a points prize of £5 5s offered in this section, to be won three times. There is also an open class for fruit, including lemons, limes and oranges locally grown. For further information see the prize schedules, copies of which are obtainable from the secretary.
The popular people’s service now held monthly in Whiteley Memorial Church will be conducted on Sunday evening, at 6.45, by the Rev. W. J. Elliott. The special subject of the sermon will be “Heroism.-’ and the choir and orchestra wilt render the anthems “I Was Glad’’ and “Hail Gladdening Light,” by Elvey and Gale respectively. Popular hymns for the people will be sung, and everybody is cordially invited. The new staircase to the gallery will be open.
