DAMAGES AGAINST DOG-OWNERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association Wellington, Nov. 23. Mr. Page, S.M., gave judgment awarding £167 damages to three plaintiffs for damages for the loss of sheep worried by two pig dogs owned by a young man, who had admitted liability, but had no money. The claim was ‘ made against the youth’s father, under the clause of the Act stating that every person shall be deemed the owner who occupies the house or premises where the dog is usually kept or permitted to remain. In this easy, the lad kept the dogs at his father’s house. The magistrate said the liability was clear, the purpose of the section was to make it easy to discover the ownership.
