THE WEEK’S WORK.
POSITION IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Nov. 23, 10.5 p.m. Sydney, Nov. 23. The newspaper Worker, commenting on the industrial position, says it js plain that the unions are not yet p-e--pared to act together in defence of their wages and hours. No unity is displayed in opposition to the attack on the 44-hour week, and for that reason the plan formulated by the Council of Action proved a failure. A ballot of the moulders resulted in favor of accepting the 48-hour week, but the men are unable to resume until other sections of the iron trades employees also accept.
