FOOTBALL.

THE LEAGUE GAME. TARANAKI LEAGUE FORMED. As a result of a meeting held at New Plymouth last night, it was decided to form a Taranaki Rugby Football League. Mr. W. B. Stock presided. The committee set up at the last meeting reported that the prospects for the game were quite good, and it was recommended that officers be elected. The committee had applied for the Pukekura and Western Parks grounds and the showgrounds for alternate Saturdays. No difficulty was anticipated in procuring playing areas. It was proposed to hold meetings in the country at an early data and explain •he league game to intending players. During the coming season the Hongkong University team would visit New Zealand, and it was hoped to arrange a match at New Plymouth. An Auckland team would also tour and would play here. Visits from teams were also possible. Until the N.Z. League programme was known it was .difficult to forecast the possibility of sending away a team, but the committee strongly recommended that special efforts be made to tour a junior representative team during the coming season. A hall suitable for training and lectures would be procured shortly, and Mr. Stock had promised to be in attendance once a week to instruct [layers .and referees. The committee considered that the delegates from each club should have voting power on all matters of finance, and at the end of the season, if funds permitted, players should be reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses, the secretary of each club to supply a certified claim for such The report was adopted. Officers were elected as follows: President, Mr. Geo. Grey; vice-presidents, Messrs. N. Lovell, A .Lyle, R. Deare, G. Chong, W. Graham, and W. M. Stevenson; secretary, Mr. E. Beatty; treasurer, Mr. Tunbridge; auditor, Mr. R. Ellis; committee, Messrs. W. B. Stock (chairman), R. Frewin, W. B. Mclntosh, G. E. Blanchard, H. Moon, L. Tichbon, J. Sceats, G. Mclaaacs, W. Roebuck, E. J. Uhlander, and T. Smith.
