FIVE THOUSAND CLAIM.

SUPPLYING WELLINGTON’S MILK. FARMERS SUGGEST LOSS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A settlement was reached at the Supreme Court to-day, in a dispute" between the Wellington Dairy Farmers’ Co-operative Association and the City Council, the parties agreeing to settle the claim by the payment of £l5OO to the association. The claim, which was argued out before Mr. Justice Reed some time ago, was for a sum of approximately £5OOO, the farmers alleging that one of the scales at the milk depot was incorrect, and also that the City Council had made short payment apart from the consideration of short measurement over a considerable period during 1920. 8 Mr. Justice Reed said that as far as the case had gone the evidence did not warrant his making any allowance in respect of the adeged faults of the scale. He thought the company should be treated as one supplier m respect of the whole of the milk delivered by its shareholders.
