THE DAVIS CUP. POSITION OF THE PLAY. The following are the matches played to date in the Davis Cup contest:— First Round. Australia defeated Canada. British Isles defeated Spain. Belgium defeated Czecho-Slovakia. Philippines forfeited to Japan. Argentina and Denmark byes. India and France byes. Second Round. Australasia defeated Britisb Isles. India defeated France. Belgiunb forfeited to Japan. Argentina forfeited to Denmark. The semi-finals to be played are Australasia v. Denmark. Japan v. India. The final will decide the team to piny the United States in the challenge round for the cup.
