ROSE SHOW.
ST. MARY'S ANNUAL FIXTURE, A beautiful display of blooms and good entries are the features of tile third annual Hose Show in St. Mary's Hall, which opened yesterday. The function should be a pleasing and instructive one for horticulturists, and is well worth a visit. Displays are made by many ivell-known exhibitors, and the quality and variety of blooms is apparent. The prize for the champion bloom in the competitive classes was awarded to Mr. X. 11. Western, Bell Block, with a Countess of Gohford clipping, and in the class for nnmed blooms the award went to Mrs. J. Paton, the exhibit being a Chnssie McKellav specimen. Among those who made exhibits were Messrs Duncan and Davies, Mr C. Sanders, Mr. J. Gibson, Miss Greig, Mrs T. C. List, Mrs. J. Pa ton, Mrs. T\ Klliott (Waitara), Miss Devenish, Mrs Haddrell, Mrs. 11. Marfell, and Miss Pelham.
The judges in the competitive classes were Messrs V. C. Davies and Henry King, and in the decorative classes Mesdames Denny- Brown and W. Skinner. Following is a list of the awards;

Decorated baskets: Penny* Boyd 1, Ivy Hingston 2, Margaret Shaw 3. Buttonholes (girls): Xorma Johnston I. Penny -Boyd. 2, Margaret Shaw 3. Special prize, Ivy Hingston. Buttonholes (boys): Ronald Shaw 1, Douglas Elliott 2, Jack Gable 3. DECORATIVE CLASSES. Bowl of roses: Mrs. Boyd'l, Miss Reube 2. Tables: Mrs. Boyd 1, Miss D. Ronbe 2, special (donated by Mrs. Denny-Brown) Miss Curtis. SALE OF WOR7C. In conjunction with the show a sale of work is being conducted, and the I well-stocked stalls should provide plenty of choices for the prospective buyer. The I list of stall-holders is:
Children's wear: Mesdames Renaud, George, Eherlet, and Webster. Plain and fancy work: Mcedames Courtenay, Shaw, Butcher, and Grayling.
Cakes: Mesdames Mason, Monteatli, Wade, and Gibson, and Miss Wade. Competitions: Mesdames DennyBrown. Haseler, and Boyd, and Miss Marshall.
Produce: Mesdames; Wilson, Coad, and Lysons, and Miss Godfrey. An afternoon tea department was in charge of Mrs. Lethbridge, assisted by Mesdames Kill. Billing, Perry, and Misses Bundle and Jleulic. A stall for the sale of flowers was under the management of Mrs. E. A. Walker.
The show was continued in the evening, when the Boys' High School orchestra played a number of selections. The show will also be open to-day from 2 till 5. Proceeds are to be devoted to the Sunday School building fund. The complete takings at the show yesterday amounted to .£O7 15s.
