PEDIGREE BULLS.
RECENT IMPORTATIONS. As briefly announced yesterday, there hare just been landed in Auckland, ex the Waltemata, live Canadian bred pedigree Jersey bulls, four of which are consigned to Hr. E. Griffiths, of New Plymouth, and one to Mr. C. Stevens, of Mangaherehere. The animals were put into quarantine at Motulhi .ast week, where they will have to remain for 60 days. The bulls are from the herd of Messrs. B. H. Bull and Sons, well-known . Canadian breeders of this class of cattle. They are a particularly well-bred lot and true to the Jersey type. They are all descended from the renowned Islaml-br6d bull Viola's Bright Prince. Some of them are sons of the great sire and some grandsons. Two of the imported animals go to South Taranakl. The older is a very choice two-year-old beast, which goes to Messrs. Wrenn Bros, and R. J. Linn. Another very handsome 18-month-old bull tracing twice to Viola's Bright Prince Is owned conjointly by Messrs. E. Griffiths and H. C. Saimpsat, and the fourth comes to Mr. Griffiths for sale on consignment. The purchase of the animals in the first place represents the expenditure of a considerable sum of money, and the cost of transit and landing l'n New Zealand has been an additional item In the undertaking of 'no small importance. . It Is felt, however, that the enterprise Is justifiable, and if these bulls leave behind tlrem such progeny as have come from other Imported animals, such as K.C.8., Majesty's Pox, Eminent Fontaine, and Campanile Sultan, their influence on New Zealand herds will be immeasurable.
