ALIENS IN AMERICA.

PRE-WAR INFLUX RESUMED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 26, 11.5 p.m. . New York, Sept. 25. Immigrants are flocking into the United States at nearly the pre-war rate of one million yearly. It is learned that the American Federation of Labor officials intend bringing pressure on Congress for more ' drastic immigration laws, on the grounds that a continuance of the present influx of aliens will undermine the living standards of native organised labor. A hard political battle is anticipated. Many employers are likely to fight the amendments, which will curtail the flow of unskilled labor into the United States.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
