PEARCE DIVORCE CASE.

ALLEGES CONTEMPT OF COURT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Sept. 23. Strong comment in Chamber proceedings before the Chief Justice was made by Mr. Myers, counsel for Mrs. Pearce in a successful action for divorce against G. V. Pearce, ex-M.P. for Patea, on the absence of the respondent, who was alleged to have committed fLagtant contempt of court by being a party to his youngest daughter (Hazel Pearce) leaving the Dominion against an order of the court which gave the mother custody of the daughter. It was alleged that the Government granted the daughters a permit to leave the Dominion despite representations that it involved contempt of court.

Sir Robert Stout adjourned the matter for a fortnight to enable cormnunicatipn to be made with Mr. Pearce, who l is now supposed to be in Japan.
