HOME KITCHEN GARDEN COMPETITION, The Taranaiii A. and P. Society proposes to liold its second Home Kitchen Garden Corapetition this season, and schedules containing the conditions upon which the competition will be decided, together with prize money offered and the various vegetables to be grown, are now !,n circulation and may lie obtained from the secretary of the society or local seeds merchants. The number of vegetables ta be grown iias this year been reduced to those groytn by practically every amateur gardener. The intention of the competition is to encourage tl:o man engaged throughout the week at his daily avocation to grow himself tiie vegetables required by bis household, and to grow them well. The judges selected by tiie society are all practical men and experts in the growing of garden vegetables. They will visit the gardens during the imontli of November and periodically as deemed necessary, so as to have the crops tinderclose observation during all stages of growth. Notes of tho conditions existing in eacl; garden will be carefully recorded and a full report published after the results of the competition have been announced. Individual competitors may upon application be furnished with a report 011 their respective gardens embodying suggestions for the improvement of their crops in the future. Every amateur gardener should enter for this comre tit lon, not alone with a view to winning a prize out of the £lO offered, but also with a view to obtaining expert information 011 liow to grow ills vegetables better.
