Colonel G. Hall, formerly of the staff of Messrs. Levin and Co., who was assistant quartermaster-general of the N.Z.E.F. in London during the war, returned to Wellington on Wednesday. The new Governor-General (Lord Jellicoe) and Lady Jellieoe are due to arrive in Wellington on Monday, the Corinthic now being expected to reach port at 9 a.m. Mr. 6.' A, Lee (New Plymouth harbor engineer), who has been on a visit to Tauranga in connection with harbor improvement matters there, returned to New Plymouth by the mail train last night. Messrs. A. Morton (chairman of the National Dairy Association) and J. Brown (chairman of the Maketawa Dairy Co.), Taranaki representatives on the Dominion Butter Committee, returned from Wellington by the mail train last night. The death occurred at Hawera yesterday morning of Miss Ann Bayly, in her 81st year. The late Miss Bayly arrived at New Plymouth with her parents (Mr. and Mrs. W Bayly) when about three years of age, the family eventually taking up their residence at Tataraimaka. The deceased lady consequently went through the trials endured by many of the early settlers in establishing homes which had subsequently to be abandoned on account of the Maori troubles.—Star.

Boland, postmaster, Waitara, to be relieving officer, General Post Office.
