CHESS AND DRAUGHTS.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. A large dumber of chess and draught players attended the usual weekly meeting of the Club at New Plymouth! last night, and much enthusiasm wad shown throughout the evening. The future of the club promises to be exceptionally good, and many first class players are already showing up. .The result of the chess was:—Leo Sim (2) v. E. Hine (0) ; J. Bruce (1) v. A. B. Gibson (0) ; J. Newing (1) v. S. Martin (1) ; J Bruce (2) v. W. P. Martin (1) ; F. Willis (2) 7. A. B. Gibson (0), P Macdonald (1%) v. G. Button (1%); A. Brodie (2) v. M. Black (1). The result of the draughts was: J. Bruce (2) v. J. Picard (1) ; S. Williams (l'i) v. W. Piper (1^); J. Johnson (3) v. P. Fisher (0).
