SOCIAL PROBLEMS.

'DISCUSSED BY ANGLICAN PRELATES. By Telegraph.—Press Asan.—Copyright. London, Sept. 21. The report of the Lambeth Conference social problems coinriprttee, -which included the Bishop of Auckland, six Australiyi andiieleven American and Canadian bishops, deajing with the drink question, is non-committal as to the desirableness of prohibition, hut testifies to the improvement in economic and social conditions in the United States consequent on prohibition. The cenditions in Britain were greatly improved under the war restrictions imposed by the Liquor Control Board. The partial removal of the restrictions after tho war had produced a distinct relapse. All the Englisli blsliops on the committee agreed as to the desirableness of fuller State control, local option, and public-house reform in the United Kingdom, but regarding State purchase and prohibition there were differences of opinion.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable As'sn.
