THE MOABCAR CUP. CHMSTCHUBCH HIGH SCHOOL WINS. DECIDED ON A FORCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, last Night. The flnnl match in the competition for tho Mtoascar Clip was played to-day in pouring rain between the Christcburch Boys' High School and North Beys' High School, the first-named being awarded the verdict on a, force down. / The ganie was played in four quarters of twenty minutes each, but no score having been tmade by either side, the teams played on until a force down or a score should result, the rule of the competition providing that the side first compelling their opponents to force down after tte play-off, should be adjudged the winners of the match. Within a few minutes after the play-off, Chrlstchurch drove Palmerston North on to their oivn l'«ne, and a Christchureh player., kicked the ball hard. A race between two opposing players ensued, which ended in Palmerston North forcing in what appeared to be dead territory. The referee (Mr. H. McKenzie, of Wairarapa), decided, however, that a force down in accordance with the rules had taken place, and the match was awarded to Christchurch Undoubtedly the superior team carried off tlie honors of the >fny, as they were superior ail round to Palmerston North. In close work they were decidedly better than Palmerston North, and the forwirds got round the ball better than their 0.-wonents. Christchureh also had an advantage in weight. Considering the bad conditions, the game was fast, although clean handling of the ball by the backs was out of the question. Territorially Christchureh had the best of the .struggle, for they were attacking three-parts of the time. The match was witnessed by the Prime Minister and several M P.'s, and at the conclusion, the Cup was presented to the successful team by Mr. Massey, who congratulated both sides on tteir hard fought exhibition.
