THE JERSEY DEMAND.
Rightly or wrongly Taranaki is look-1 ed upon by other districts as the best | place from which to buy good Jersey cattle. For the past two seasons buyers from the Waikato in particular have bought grade Jersey heifers in large numbers, but complained that they* could not get enough. Undoubtedly the Taranaki grade Jersey as a butterfat producer is hard to beat, and indications already point to the demand from outside next season being greater than ever, and prices will automatically go higher. The wise dairyman will see that he secures a pedigree Jersey bull early, for there will not be enough for all. The man who is content to use "any old bull" and breed "scrub" calves will surely be soon squeezed out of the business —he must advance with his more prosperous neighbors or fail,
