A BIRD IN THE HAND.

SPLENDID OPPORTUNITY FOR INVESTORS. "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." This old maxim is true today as evejatt was. A bird in the hand is a Bound and proved investment. A bird iij the bush is a speculation—a proposition that might or might not prove sound.

This marked difference should be borne in mind by Taranaki investors, who have earned their money chiefly by dint of their own industry and thrift, and cannot afford to take risks. There is no need for .them to do so, as they have today the opportunity of investing in a proved sound and successful business, that of Newton King, Ltd. It is the result of 41 years' careful and thorough building, and to-day it standa on solid foundations, and in an unassailable position, growing all the time with the development of Taranaki, with whose interests it is indissolubly bound up. Its ramifications are provincial wide, and its future is assured.

The founder (Mr. King) has decided to form the business into a limited liabilitycompany, and in the. prospectus appearing elsewhere in this issue, limited numbers of ordinary shares and Oj per cent, preferential shares are offered to v the public. The ordinary shareholders will participate in the profits of the business. These profits are substantial, and should continue to be so, for Mr. King and the present sub-managers, who have built up the business, will continue to direct operations. The dividends on ordinary shares will, of course, be free of income tax. The preferential shareholders will receive 6£ per cent, clear of income .tax. This is a gilt-edged investment, and should appeal to those requiring a perfectly safe investment at a remunerative rate of interest. Investors should remember that the share-list will close on or before the end of the present month, and early application for shares should therefore be made to the company, or Mr. J. S. S. Medley «harebroker, New Plymouth. *
