At the tallow sales 2034 casks were offered and 1582 sold. Mutton, common sorts, advanced 2s: fair beef, mixed 4s; mutton 109 a to 102s; beef 118s to 102s. Bradford wool is quiet pending the opening of the London sales on Monday. Sugar—Unchanged. PEEL RIVER CO., Received Jan. 11, 5.5 p.m. London, Jan. 9. The Peel River Company's profit is £74,704. Wednesday, there was a fair yarding of cattle, but sheep were penned In larger numbers .than usual. Competition was keen throughout, and a total clearance was effected under the hammer. We quote: Lambs 5s 7d to 12s 2d, f.f.in. cwe3 23s 4d to 25s Id, aged ewes 13 3s, 4-tooth maiden ewes 245, forward ewes and wethers 31s 6d, store pigs, small £2 18s, weaner pigs 31s to 365, bulls £7 10s to £l4, store cows £8 5s to £lO, light ditto £6 Is to £7 15s.

On Thursday, at Hawera, there was only a moderate yarding of all classes of stock. Bidding was brisk and a total • clearonco was effected. Prices were:.
