WELLINGTON v. CANTERBURY. A DRAW. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 10. The Wellington-Canterbury match was coneluded this afternoon, ending in a draw. Wellington went In to bat at 2 o'clock, and, when stumps were drawn at 6 o'clock, they had nine wickets down for 288 runs—Dind 59, Burton 57, Mlddleton 48, and Schrader 26. Sandman secured four wickets for 77 runs, McErvln two for 32, Evans one 1 for 7, and Read, one for 46.
NORTH TARANAKI TEAM. TRIAL HUTCH, A match was played at the Recreation Grounds on Saturday afternoon between a number of players chosen with a view to enabling the selectors to pick a team to play against Soutli Taranakl on Thursday, 22nd. Inst. The match resolved Itself Into a contest between eight men who were called Stalnton's team, and an eleven under the captaincy of H. Quickfall. Stainton's men batted first and compiled 118 In about two hours. Eggle'ston gave a good exhibition, and was responsible for 50 of the total. Osborne and Palmer were the only others to reach double figures. Qulckfall's side was disposed of for C 5, Saunders (21) and Morrison (14), being the principal scorers.
