STRATFORD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) (All communications, letters, etc., left with Mr. H. J". Hopkins, bookseller, H'ill receive prompt attention.) Stratford, Sept. 13. A lecture, under the auspices of the Stratford A. and P. Association, was given in the Parish Hall by Mr. W. Gee Taylor, M.R.C.V.S., this afternoon on those diseases in cows which are causing farmers concern at the present time There was all attendance of 17, and Mr R. Dingle presided. As the lecture is to be followed by others, Mr. Taylor confined himself to the disease known as "red water." At the conclusion a number of questions were asked and answered. Reference was made to the paucity of the attendance, and it was suggested that in future the lectures be more widely advertised. The chairman remarked that some of the members of the association lived too fur away to derive any benefit from the lectures, and it was a question of how far they should go in using their funds for such a. purpose. A proposal that a shilling be charged for admission to the lectures was withdrawn, and several members, while condemning an admission charge, expressed their willingness to contribute | towards the expenses. Mr. Rawles said they were quite willing to have a separate account kept, and those profiting by the lectures would meet the expenses j It was finally decided, on the understanding given by Mr. Rawles, that it be a recommendation to the A, and P. Association that they arrange with Mr. Taylor for a series of five or six lectures, An enjoyable social in aid of the funds of the Midhlrst Anglican Church was held in the Midhirst Hall last evening Songs were contributed by Miss Black! and Messrs A. D. Bills, Aitken, Davis, 1 Insull, and Sergt.-Major Chapman. The, accompaniments were played by Mrs Richmond and Mr. Chas. Fox.
