SAND RECITAL.

CHRISTMAS MUSIC AT THE PARK. It is a considerable time since there has been a band recital, and it was not surprising, therefore, that yesterday's programme of Christmas music presented by the New Plymouth Citizens' Band at Pukekura Park attracted a large crowd. The band was in full strength, and played its numbers in excellent style. The outstanding features of the programme were the "Hallelujah Chorus," which was given exceptionally well; "Coming Home," which was (by request) repeated during the afternoon; and "Over There," the air which has had such a run of popularity in the United States. The programme was unusually long, but the fine afternoon and the long interval since the previous recital probably accounted fo. the extra number of items given. Following is the full programme: —March, "II Cavaliere" (Middleum); suite, "Star of Them All" (Bordogni); "Ora Pro Nobis" (Picolomini); Hallelujah Chorus from "The Messiah" (Handel) ; cornet solo, "Coming Home' (arranged McLeod); "Hark, the Merry Bells' (Aldrieh); "The Harmoniom Blacksmith" (Handel); "Hark, the Herald Angels," "0, Come All Ye Faithful,'' and other well-known Chrijsmas carols; American march song, "Over There" (arranged McLeod); "The Lord's Prayer ; and quickstep, "The Contempt Men' (Lee Stanley); concluding with the National Anthem. The collection, which was for the band fund, amounted to about £l2.
