Father Dore, who was severely wounded at Gallipoli, has been presented by the Governor-General with the Military Cross.

It is officially reported that an operation for duodenal ulcer has been performed on Prince -Albert, second son of the King. His condition is satisfactory.

Mrs, T. O'Donnell has received cable advice that her husband, Rifleman L. S. O'Donnell, was transferred to Brocton Camp on November 7.

Mrs. E. A, O'Donnell has received cable advice that her brother, Privaio Richard Barrett, was transferred to the convalescent depot, Hornchurch, on November 21.

,Mr. J. H. Knowles, second engineer on the Aurora (Sir Ernest Shackleton's ship), now long overdue, was engineer on board the New Plymouth Harbor Board's dredger Paritutu when she camo out from Scotland.

News has been received in Opunakc that Lieut. K. Feaver, who was wounded severely on October 12, is doing well and is in the Brockcnhurst Hospital. He is suffering from gunshot wounds in thigh and right hand. Mr. A. W. Bennett, general manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, and Mr. C. V. Houghton, Auckland manager of the company, were in New Plymouth yesterday and proceeded north iby the Rarawa.

Mrs. M. Shaw, of Weymouth Street, has received advice that her bod, Sapper H. D. Show, who left with the 9th Beinforcemeats, has foeen admitted to hospital in France, Sapper Shaw, who has had several narrow escapes, had up to the present not been an inmate of hospital; Mrs. Beauchsunp has been advised that her son, who left with the Bth Reinforcements, has had the misfortune to lose the sight of one eye, though he had a remarkable escape from death. Ho was driving a transport waggon when a bomb from a German aeroplane fell, killing two of his horses. He was severely shaken and the concussion caused the injury to his eye. A hospital progress report issued on Wednesday included the following:— Severe cases: Lieut. N. A. Arthur (Ha\vcra),|J. P. Thorpe (Waverley). Not reported as severe cases: W. Dawson (Hawera). A.
