WORKING OP CARGO. Christchurcb, Nov. 20. The Lyttelton Waterside Workers' Union took the ballot to-day on the question of working cargo on vessels from 7 a.m. until 0.30 p.m. instead ot the present hours, which are 8 a.m. till 8 pirn. The proposal to work only oversea vessels during the extended period was carried by a substantial majority. Two other proposals submitted to the ballot were lost. One was that the men agree to work all ocean-going and intercolonial vessels from 7 a.m. till 0.30 p.m. when required, and the other that all ships be worked during the same period as required.
