PARK SATURDAY.
A GRATIFYING RESPONSE; It hns often boon snu\ that New Plymouth people do not sufficiently appreciate I'ukekura Park, which is admitted by all visitors to be the finest scenic resort in New Zealand. It is quite evident, however, that residents of the town do appreciate the Park, and are prepared to assist in its maintenance, for despite the numerous appeals that have been paid of late for patriotic purposes, there was a very gratifying response to the "Park Saturday" appeal, and with one box yet to come in a total of £163 lias been received. The Board expresses itself as very pleased with the successful day, and is also deeply indebted to all the ladies who made a house-to-house canvass and also took up a collection in the street. It is not possible .yet,, to give "a detailed list of the amounts received by the various collectors, but two ladies "returned one box containing £23.
