OKATO LEAP YEAR BALL.
The Leap Year Bal' arranged, by the ladies of Okato in aid of the fund for providing a. club for the returned sQldie.'t in New Plymouth, proved very seecessful. There was a very large attendance, including the Mayoress of New Plymouth (Mrs. C. H. Burgess), and a numbe.- of returned troopers The hall wa<i gaily de.-i'rated, the Anzae ■Flag, which is to be presented to the club by the Lauies' Patriotic Committee, occupying a prominent position. Mi>s Poebu'.'k, Miss Sanson, snd Miss Vincent officiated as M.C's, aiul-- they kept thcr ball moving merrily ulong right' from the Grand March, which was led by Mr. and Mrs. Roebuck, the oldest members of the district. Miss Gladys. George and Messrs. George and Thomson provided the music, assisted by Mr. Burnett, whilst extras wci'u also played by , Miss Corbett and Mrs. Bullot. Cards were provided fur the non-dancer*. A splendid supper v/as >yr&vided. During the evening, Prix ate Ftynn, on behalf of the returned soldiers, in a few wellchosen words, thanked the ladies, who certainly de9»rve congratulation for the ' suecesi of their efforts, on behalf of the club
