Mr. Albert Bishop, of Marton, 81 veteran of the Maori War, lias just died, aged acventy-four.
Constable A. Bennett, of Hokitlka, has retired from the police force, after thirty-eight years' service. Word has oeen received at Ashburton that Lieutenant-Colonel Findlay, C.8., has recovered from his wounds, and has rejoined his regiment.
Mr. Jasper Kruger, nephew of Presi. dent Kruger, is now in training in Enfc. land with tlio South Africans.
Mr. P. Bayly, of Toko, who met with an accident some time ago, is now at his home in New Plymouth. He is making good progress toward* recavery.
The death occurred at Auckland on Monday of Mrs. Hanna, widow of the late Mr. J. R, Hanna, formerly of New Plymouth.
Mr. J. Masters returned to Stratford on Wednesday evening, after attending the funeral of his mother, who died at Greymouth at the age of 82 years.
Mr. W. H. Skinner, Commissioner of Crown Lands for Hawke's Bay, is on ti visit to New Plymouth in connection with the celebration of his mother's 90th, birthday.
Mrs. Donnelly, of Hawera (formerly, Miss Marion Stewart), has beeti appointed sister at the Pahiatua Hospital. Miss L. E. Hercus has keen appointed charge nurse at Pahiatua. Mr. Donnelly is with the Expeditionary Forces as a dispenser.
