DISTRICT NEWS.
NEWALL ROAD. . (From A. Correspondent}. Some evily-minded person or persons attempted one night last week to blow up Mr. Duggan's gate post with gelignite. Fortunately it did not explode. It is about time a stop was put to this sort of tiling. Not only is the gate post endangered but the explosion might also seriously injure anyone passing through the gate. If our local policeman cannot find the criminal hoodlums, them it is time another man was put in his place.
A farewell is to be given J. Keogh, A. Rookeg and W. West on Thursday, the 27th. It is hoped a good crowd will turn lip to bid our brave lads farewell, The music is to be supplied by Rookes' orchestra.
• Mr. Rookes is leaving the factory to join the expeditionary force. This'leaves the Warea Dairy Company in a very difficult position, as a capable manager cannot be procured at any price. Three, subscription list's are out for the coming farewell to our boys, those in charge being A. Rookes, N. Tai and J. Ross. I understand fifteen pounds have been collected.
The turnip crops are looking exceptionally well this time and farmers are rejoicing over there winter feed. Mr. Duggan's is, I believe, the best on the road.
