WAITARA EN FETE.

CARNIVAL STARTS TO-DAY., FOR OUR WOUNDED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Carnival arrangements are now complete, and the gala promises to be a great success. This afternoon the excitement will commence, and Waitara should be crowded with participants from far and near. The procession, starting at 2 p.m., will open the function, and will contain a large number of novel displays which will _be judged on the ground immediately after arrival. A large number of useful articles, r.oultry, etc., have been received for the jumble'stall, and may be had at bargain prices. The Municipal Band will be in attendance, and the public may be assured of an interesting programme. ' Clowns, pierrots and flower girls will add considerably to the merrymaking. This evening's enjoyment will be made up of dances on the green, to waltz tunes played by the band, and entertainments by the Sunflower Kntertainers.

Numerous prizes, including bridles, whip, thermos flask, honey jars, etc., arc to be given for the athletic and military events to-morrow afternoon, and these should entice a large entry. Entrances may be made on the ground. Visitors to the Carnival are reminded that the festival is in aid of the, Wounded Soldiers' Fund, and thos,e taking part in the procession (excepting the Band), arc to pay the entrance fee
