Mr. Alf Walslie, who was formerly farming at Waipuku, lias purchased the Club Hotel at Opunake, and takes possession to-morrow. The County bridge staff are at present erecting two ferro-eoncrcte bridges over streams in the Denbigh Road (Midliirsl). At present these streams have to be forded, so the bridges will bo welcomed by the settlers on that road. Last Saturday evening as two clerical gentlemen were having tea in a restaurant, in Stratford,' an individual was heard making ineomplimentary remarks about the Belgians, and our soldiers. The two gentlemen immediately left the room and found a Justice of the Peace. Search was made of the town, and the malcontent was found at the railway station. On being approached he stoutly denied using the words complained of, but more will probably be heard of the matter. On Saturday afternoon, the eldest son, of Mr. J. Luccna. Toko Road, met with a painful accident. He was mustering sheep, and was thrown from his horse, the lad's arm being badly smashed at the elbow.
