A COLORED CONTINGENT. ENTHUSIASTIC RECRUITING. Received Oct. 27, 8.10 p.m. Capetown, Oct. 27. It is understood that General Botha has decided to retain office for the present. ißeuter's correspondent states that the opening of the recruiting campaign for a colored contingent wa's markedly enthusiastic. On opening the doors the 1 rush was so great that it was necessary to erect a barricade and requisition the police to keep the entrances clear. Two hundred enrolled in two hours, most of whom had served in Southi West Africa. The enlistment is confined to unmarried men without dependents.
