PERSONAL.

Pol ice-Inspector Wilson is on * visit to New Plymouth, and goes on to Mokau to-day.

Mr Allan Hill, secretary of -Jjkfe Auckland branch of the Public Association, arrived in New Plymouth, yesterday. He will endeavour to form a branch of the association in Taranaki. Mr. T. E. Foy, manager of the Bank of New Zealand, Te Kuiti has received word that he has been,appointed manager for Fiji, and will "be stationed at Suva. Mr. Butts, from Raetihi, win succeed Mr. Foy. Dr. A. Izard, medical adviser to the King of Tonga, who is at present on a visit to New Zealand, will leave Wellington on his return to the Island* next Friday. He has definitely decided not to again contest the Wellington North scat against the Hon. A. L. Herdmui.

A very old resident of Palmergton North passed away on Friday im the person of Mrs. Cicely Alder3on, of Albert Street. She had reached the age of seventy-seven years, and for the past thirty-eight years had lived in Palmergton North. Her husband pre-deceased her forty years ago. She left seven daughters and three sons.

Mr J. G. Ellis, at one time the vicepresident of the Westland A. aid P. Association and honorary botanist to the same body, and who is well known as an agricultural instructor an* lecturer in South Canterbury, has arrived in New Plymouth to take up the position of agricultural and dairy science instructor under the Taranaki Education Board. He has had many years practical experience in agriculture.
