THE BOOT FACTORY FIRE.
AN ENQUIRY DEMANDED. Mr. H. Goodacre arrived from the South last night, and at once proceeded to make investigations regarding the fire at the Egmont Boot Factory. Seen by n "News' reporter, Mr. Goodacre stated that he was not at all satisfied with the circumstances attending it. and he was moving to have an immediate inquiry held. He had been in communication with the nolice and the underwriters upon the" subject, and was desirous that an enquiry should be held at the earliest possible" date. He mentioned that upon two occasions within the last few months windows at the factory had been broken and an entry burglariously effected, «ome money having been stolen. Mr. Goodacre "states that the firm was carrying £7OOO worth of stock, which was only covered by an insurance of £ISOO, and he estimate* the loss at from £ISOO to £I7OO above the insurance.
