ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
ACCIDENTAL DEATH. Per Press Association. Ashburton, Friday. At the inquest regarding the shooting of Albert Butterick, his wife gave evidence that he had no financial worries, and left home in his usual cheerful manner: A neighbour stated that Butterick some time ago told him his gun was defective. A verdict of accidental death was returned. A SCALDING ACCIDENT. Invercargill, Last Night. Walter Charles Glecd, a railway porter, while filling foot-warmers from a vat of boiling water, slipped, and his leg was very badly scalded up to the knee. He was removed to the hospital. ' A WHARF ACCIDENT. Invercargill, Last Night. Alexander Bailie, working in the hold of a vessel at the Bluff was injured by a case which slipped out of a sling and fell on him. He was removed to the hospital. His injuries are not regarded as serious.
