At the inquest regarding the shooting of Albert Butterick, his wife gave evidence that he had no financial worries, and left home in his usual cheerful manner: A neighbour stated that Butterick some time ago told him his gun was defective. A verdict of accidental death was returned. A SCALDING ACCIDENT. Invercargill, Last Night. Walter Charles Glecd, a railway porter, while filling foot-warmers from a vat of boiling water, slipped, and his leg was very badly scalded up to the knee. He was removed to the hospital. ' A WHARF ACCIDENT. Invercargill, Last Night. Alexander Bailie, working in the hold of a vessel at the Bluff was injured by a case which slipped out of a sling and fell on him. He was removed to the hospital. His injuries are not regarded as serious.
