NORTH TARANAKI HUNT CLUB.

A SUCCKSSFI'L MEET. The North Taranaki limit Club held a most successful meet on the property' of the .Master, Mr, A. H. Halcombe, at Urcuui, yesterday. There was ideal weather and a large attendance. Before the throw-oil' the Hunt was entertained at luncheon by Mr. and 3lrs. Halcombe. Boon after starting the business proper, a hare was raised, and gave the meet a line run of two miles, over numerous, jumps. Thereafter there was no lack of sport, the hounds raisin},' hare after, hare, and a number of strenuous runs ensued, the meet being generally voted one of the best the Club has ever held. Shortly after -I o'clock an adjournment .was made to Mr. llaleombe's residence for afternoon tea, and Mr. dinner, the deputy-master, took advantage of the occasion to express the thanks of the club to Mr. and Mrs. Halcombe for their kindness, and also to property owners for allowing the privilege of hunting over their grounds. The secretary, Mr. A. L. Humphries, then placed in Mr. Halcombe's charge the cup won by tlie Hunt for the best hound in the Xortli Island; it having been won two years In succession at the Hastings Show. Mr. Chancy, on behalf of the Club, also presented Mr. Halcombe with a silver cigarette case, inscribed "Presented to our Master, A. H. Halcombe, Esq., by the members of the North Taran&ki Hunt Club," In responding, Mr. Halcombe expressed ! his appreciation of the gift, and added that he wius particularly pleased at the , way the members of the Hunt had ob- [ served such restrictions as lie had had | to lay down in the course of his-Master-ship, both as regards traversing prohibited country and getting too close to the pack. It had been both a duty and a pleasure to him to assist the club in every way possible.
