Dr. Hutson, of Taihape Hospital, has jeeu appointed medical superintendent it Wanganui, vice Dr. Hatherley, who retires 011 six months' leave. A Wellington telegram states that Sir Jainos Carroll has sufficiently recovered f:nin !iis recent severe illness to be able to leave bis bed yesterday for the first time. The appointment of the Rev. F. Wallis, D.D., late Bishop of Wellington, New Zealand, as Prebendary of Beam-1 inster, Secunda, in Salisbury Cathedral, is announced in the Church Times (England). Mr. Albert Eastwood, representing Heche's Polite Vaudeville Company, arrived in New Plymouth last' night to make arrangements for the opening of tlie company on June 30 and the two following nights. Mr. C. A. Colbeck, the fifth son of the bite Captain ColbeCk (formerly a director of the Bank of New Zealand), died on Friday last at Remuera, Auckland. Deceased was 47 years of age, and' arrived in New Zealand from England, when a child. He was educated at Nelson and Wellington Colleges, and, later, entered the services of the Bank of New Zealand.
