LONDON MARKETS. By Cable—Press .Association—Copyright. London, April 20. Wheat.—The market is very firm, and there is renewed Continental enquiry. Several Australian cargoes sold at prices ranging from 38s to 3Ss 6d. The wheat and flour afloat is 4,005,000 quarters, for the Continent 4,035,000 quarters. Atlantic shipments 225,000 quarters, Pacific nil; total for Europe 1,710,000 quarters, Australasian 123,000 quarters. Wool.—Antwerp sales closed firm. Fine merino crossbreds fetched up to five centimes advance; 5059 bales of La Plata were offered and 3534 sold. Rabbits.—Large arrivals, in the absence of a demand, depressed the market; Sydneys, large, made 17s, young 14s; six small lots went for lis Cd. Frozen Meat.—New Zealand: Lambs, Canterbury, light and medium, G%d; North Island 6%d, selected fi%d; beef, fores 3 7-10 d; lambs, fair quality, sd. Meat.—Generally the lamb and beef markets are firm, with a hardening tendency at last quotations, viz.: Mutton, Canterbury 4'/ 2 d, North Island 4'4<t; lamb, Canterbury o%d, other than Canterbury fiy s d; beef, New Zealand hinds 4»/,d. fores 3y»d. Butter.—The market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers: choicest New Zealand, salted 113s, unsalted 115s: Australian 10!ls, Argentine 108s, Danish lifts, Siberian 108s. Cheese.—The market is lifeless; New Zealand 58s. Hemp.—The market is dull and prices are irregular; spot New Zealand, good fair grade £33, fair £3O; fair current Manila £33; April-June shipment of New Zealand good fair £32. fair ,C2fl 10s, fair current Manila £33 10s: the output from Manila for the week amounted to 111,000 bales. Linseed.—The market is firm, but the demand is only moderate; New Zealand 55s (nominal). Hops.—The market is firm, owing to reduced supplies. Wheat.—The market is firmer, with more demand. Oats. The market is quiet but steady: there is a general and active demand for old oats; New Zealand short (sparrowbills) ex granary per quarter of 3841b 235: Danish, per quarter of 3201b, 21s. Beans.—The market is firm, with an improved demand; New Zealand beans f.a.q. (old crop), per 5041b. 40s. Peas.—The market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers; New Zealand peas (Partridges), per 5041b, 41s.
