RAHOTU, (From Our Own Correspondent). . A fine day, though dull, favored Rahptu fftr the opening of £he bazaar in aid of the (Hal]. Mr. Wilkinson, M.P., journeyed frm Elthani to perform the ripening ceremony, which, took place at 2.30 p;m. Mr. Wilkinson said it gave ,fe gJWt pleasure to come to Rahotu, ana Ke'i hop#! the bazaar.-.would Jje a great success. The debt on the hali was just over £IOO, and he trusted that it 1, would be paid off with the proceeds the bazaar. He then declared the bazaar, open. Business then commenced itfeHrriest.« . ;
After refreshments Mr. Wilkinson, and. party visited Pomona Gardens, and at 4.30 left on their return for Eltham. . The stalls were very- nicely decorated with- goods of . all descriptions, from a needle to a set of harness. The stalls were : in charge of the following ladies:— Mesdames J. Phillips, H. Phillips, Wright Pen warden,, Grooip, Hill, Tomas and Mifis Stevens, and all seemed to be kept busy. Mesdames Willcox. F. Ward, Garcia, Fisher and others had charge of the refreshment tablea, which were, well pr* vided with' every appetising delicacy. It is to be hoped weather will continue fine for Thursday and Saturday night, when a very Urge crowd is expected.
