FOUND DEAD.

The body of the old man who was found in the bush near Port Chalmers cemetery has been identified as that of Robert Cole, aged 77, who worked for Air. Nisbet, painter, whose employment lie left on 30th November without saying where he was going. He left the Glasgow restaurant on Friday, a few days before Xnias, saying that he would return in a week. A letter addressed to him at the restaurant was opened by the of Police. It was from lin s'st-er, who lives at Portsmouth, Englaii!. and contained a Ninas card.
MARTON RAILWAY FATALITY.

DEATH IN A LIGHTHOUSE.,

A sad death occurred at Godley Head lighthouse about six o'clock this morn- ! ing, when David Partington, head light- | housekeeper, passed peacefully away i just at the conclusion of his morninjf I watch. Sir. Partington has been for some time past suffering from heart trouble, and he had beeu advised by Dr. i Newell, of Lyttelton, to take a 'complete rest. Partington had arranged for this relief. In company with his brother, who is a warJer in the Lvttelton Gaol, Partington vns seated 1 in the lighthouse early tlrs morning waiting for sunrfso before extinguishing the light, when without warning; and quite peacefully, f»e suddenly expired'. Partington, who was about oo years of .age, leaves & widow, one son and a daughter. He was one of the oldest keepers in the lighthouse service, p.ud had been stsitionAl at numerous lighthouses, including Puyserrur Po ; nt. Aknroa Head and" Nugget Point, liemof transferred from the lastmentioned place about eighteen month® ago.
SUPPOSED SUICIDE.
Hokitika, Last Night. A search party to-dny discovered the body of -Tomes Henderson, a miner, who lia<l been missing from his home since Monday. Deceased was found in' an abandoned drive, about two miles south of Hokitika, with a large wound in his throat. He was 50 years of age, and leaves a widow and eleven children. An inquest is proceeding. The evidence points to suicide.
