ENTERTAINMENTS.
EMPIRE PICTURES. A GORCEOUS EXTRAYAUANZA. To-day and to-night the management are presenting the most costly picture production ever released in any part of the world, a spectacular dramatic adaptation of th;' well-known fairy tale "Cinderella." The film is bv the Selig Coy. (who previously gained fame by their beautiful picture "The Two Orphans") and features that ilaintv diminutive international idol, Miss 'Mabel Taliaferro (the Ellaine Terris of .America) who alone received an amount that was fabulous for her pa ft in tlii* unique production. The .New York "Telegraph" says. "The presentation as a whole is remarkable both for its massiveness, its scenic and costume display, and for the excellence of its cast, from the star to the humblest supernumerary. It attains all that has been claimed for it and should prove a delight to millions of spectators for years to come." The management announce that children will not be admitted to the dross circle for half price during the night sessions of this picture. "Cinderella" will be shown at the matinee to-day, and the children will be admitted at the usual matinee price, viz., threepence.
THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. The new programme was again shown to a good attendance at the Theatre Royal last evening. The star item was a long, beautifully coloured film, "Red Fov. the Poacher," showing in a realistic manner the wild life of a cunning poacher and his many adventures with the gamekeepers. The A.B. Co. was represented with a telling dramatic story, The Rocky Road," and thcro was 'a powerful drama bv Edison, "The Red Man's Burden.* Amongst the interesting items the Australian Gazette fieured prominently, also a sporting film, "Tiger "tL" I?\ S°T (]v mh '^ eU included, the Totville Eve," a screaming newspaper corned)-. "Lessons in Courtship," a Vitagraph headliner. and "The Vandal Leopard.* This is one of the best pieces of farce m which the Pathe leopard has appeared, and kept last ni«ht's audience m roars of laughter. The same programme will be repeated at the matinee this afternoon and again on the last occasion to-night. There will be no pictures on Monday owing to the theatre being otherwise engaged. '
