THE TAUHERENIKAU CAMP
SPLEXDIDLY SITUATED,

It is an ideal spot, sheltered from the prevailing wind by a magnilicent belt of native bush, and the Tauherenikau River is within a stone's throw. In front of the camp there is a natural parade ground many acres in extent, Hat as a billiard table. The sanitary and water supply systems are very up-to-date. An acetylene gas plant has been erected, and all the mess tents and lecture rooms lit thereby. The men for the most part are a. very smartlonking lot. Many have thrown up good positions, in. business to embrace the military career. The food is plain but wholesome, and all hands arc satis-liecl with the catering.
WORK STARTS IN EARNEST,

Work started in earnest at the military instruction camp at Taiiherenikaii to-day, various squads of subalterns and instructors being paraded in their respective marquees, where leetiircttes on musketry and other elementary subjects were Tin; camp was inspected by the t.'amp Comman lani, Colonel Herd, and the men were put through a course of drill during tile afternoon.
