EXPLORING NEW GUINEA

NEW TRIBES DISCOVERED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Brisbane, December 30. The German Government yacht Dolphin brings news that recently the natives on the Rye coast of New Guinea attacked a trading station and murdered some native boys. Natrvi troops, with marine guns, destroyed the villages! The natives fled on the approach of the punitive expedition. Members of the German expedition exploring the island came across a dwarf tribe of natives, who fired arrows at the expedition, and the members had to use rifles in self-defence.

They found another new tribe, quite nude, and armed with bows, arrows and stone axes. They made friendly overtures, and brought peace offerings. They lived in huts raised ten feet from the ground.
