SENTENCES SEVERE AND OTHERWISE. By Telegraph.—iress Association. Auckland, Thursday. Mr. Justice Edwards sentenced Sydney Herbert Gordon Doyle, a youth of 19 years, to seventeen years' imprisonment on charges of breaking and entering and nine charges of theft, and declared him an habitual criminal. * Jno. Ingram, charged with breaking and entering at Dargaville, and having previous convictions at Auckland, Hamilton, and Timaru, was sentenced to 12 months. Henry George Stone, charged with the same offence, but of previous good character except that he is a deserter from the Navy, was admitted to probation for 12 months.
