INVERCARGILL LOAN. By Telegraph.—Pres» Association. Invercargill, Last Night. Faith in the stability of Invercargill was demonstrated to-night, when the Town Council dealt with tenders for raising £17,000 by means of 4% per cent loan debentures, the money being required for paying off. old debentures about to mature. There were seventeen applicants, the majority being Inveroargiii residents. They sought various amounts, one offering to find the whole sum. The total offered was £47,400. Three offered at par, and the rest stated premiums ranging from 7s 6d 'to £2 4s, while some eventually subscribed at an average premium of something over £,l 5s 4d per cent. The transaction is considered very satisfactory .
