PARLIAMENT OPENS. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright Received June 14, 5.15 ;p.m. Sydney, June 14. Parliament; was opened to-day, and members swot* allegiance to the King. THE GOVERNOR'S SPEECH. Received June 14, 8.15 p.m. Sydney, June 14. The Governor's speech, after expressing the profound sense of the loss of the nation by King Edward's death, referred to the continued .prosperity of the State's primary industries, which were marked by an advance in manufacturing enterprise. There was a gratifying growth of population. He expressed the fear that the revenue would 'be curtailed if the Federal Parliament carried out its intention to impose the land taxation as outlined in the legislation forecasted. The railway proposals include the duplication of Main Trunk lines, building of cross country connections between districts served with existing lines. A Workers' Compensation Bill is also promised. WANT OF CONFIDENCE'. Received June 15, 12.5 a.m. Sydney, June 14. The Legislative Council adopted the Address-in-Reply. The Assembly is discussing the Address. A late sitting is promised. It is expected that Mr. McGowan will move a want of confidence motion in general terms before the House adjourns.
