A SCHOOL DESTROYED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wairoa, August 12. The district school, accommodating over 400 scholars, was burned to the ground last night. The flr e was fanned by a gale. The pupils and teachers had a good many losses in books. Only records, an organ, and a few desks were saved. It is supposed the flre was caused by a defective chimney.

BLAZE AT WANGANUI. •Wanganui, August 12. <• A store and dwelling at Kai Iwi, owned by H. Robinson and occupied by J. W. H. Harvey, were totally destroyed by fire early this morning. The buildings and stock were insured, but th? storekeeper is a keav loser. The insurances are not alßnable.
