London, September 4. In the cricket match l'layers v. Gentlemen, Tarrant, on the flayers' .side, took five wickets for 3(i. At a meeting of civil servants on 'Friday evening, it was decided to form' a cricket club, to be called the United) Service Cricket Club, affiliate witSi the Association and enter two teams for - the competition, 'i'lic following otlicers .were elected:—Patron, liis Worship the IMayor; president, Mr. F. Simpson; (ttce-pralidents, Messrs. G. '£. Murray, B. Bayly, J. Day, A. H. Glasgow, and. E. Whittle; club captain, llr. X. It. '(Southall; secretary and treasurer, Mr. SV. J. T. Wigga; general committee, the president, club captain, secretary, nod Messrs. T. V. Mackay, C. E. Sea- , bright, and Crawshaw. It was decided the management committee slhould draw up rules. A selection committee, consisting of Messrs. Mackay, Siiumonds, and the club captain, was elected for the season. Mr. Southall was elected delegate to the North Taranaki "(Cricket Association. A hearty vote of fthanWg was accorded Mr, Whittle for tile maimer in which he had interested faimsejf, and also for supplying information. It is proposed to open the season aiiout Saturday, 19th inst., with a (natch, president's eleven Y. vice-presi-dents' eleven.
