ILADIES' INTERPROVINCIAL TOUR- ; NAJIENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ) Wellington, Last Night, i Though the weather was dull, a large crowd of spectators went over to Day's Bay yesterday to witness the games in the ladies' hockey tournament, which proved very interesting. In the senior grade Canterbury beat Wellington A by 4 goals to nil. llawkc's Bay beat •Wairarapa A by 5 to nil. Nelson beat ■Wairarapa B by 8 to nil, and Wellington B had a bye. The junior matches resulted as follows: —Wellington A beat Hawke's Bay by 2 to nil; Horowhenua beat Wanganui by G to nil; Wellington B a bye.

AUCKLAND DEFEATS WELLINGTON. ! Auckland, Last Night. 1 Between three and four thousand people witnessed the challenge match for the New Zealand Ilockev Association's championship shield at Victoria •Park yesterday between Wellington and 'Auckland. The weather was gloriously fine, and the ground played like a billiard table. The game resulted in a win for the holders (Auckland) by i goals to nil. In the first spell Barry scored for Auckland as the 'result of gome clever combined play between himself, Brooke-Smith, Mather, and Mason, ■while in the second half Brooke-Smith scored from a passing rush between ißarry and Mather. Auckland were the fcetter team, a succession of hard matches in defending the shield having put them in splendid fettle. Their forwards showed great pace, while the jbacks gave a finished exhibition. Like the winners, the Wellington men placed fl pretty game, but they were acting vra the defensive for the greater part Of the second spell, and would probably Slave had a bigger total registered against them had the shooting of the opposing iorwards been up to the mark. For Wellington, Smvthe and Elliott among the forwards, and Campbell, Brewer, and Hickson among the backs, •were the most prominent. Mr. W. E. Kobinson, of Auckland, gave satisfaction as referee.
