ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS.
(Per Press Association.) THAMES, Jan. 2. Mary Ann Bottomore, aged 57, was found in a dying condition in the street last night. Shi: was removed to the police station, a nd expired from heart failure. NAPIER, Jan. 2, A sad fatal accident occurred here this morning; a lad named Ambrose. Bald, about six years old, a son of James Bald, tinsmith, was riding on tlio shafts of a trolley useH for conveying the cages containing some of the wild an mals attached to Fitzgerald's circus, and when near the railway station, the chid fell off tho tro|llcy, tlio wheels OH which passed over his head, fracturing tho skull and killing hiui SjwtanWy,DIJNEDIN, Jam. 2. A man named George Turnbull had a _ difference with his wife in a 'Bouse in Castle Street, which caused tho wife to call in a constable. The latter admonished the man and told tho ,woman she could lay a charge against her husiband if she Hesired. On hearing; this Turnbull rushed off to another room, and the constable following was just in time to stop Ms cutting lri ß throat with a, knife. The man was removed to the hospital, and it is believed tho wound he inflicted -is not likely to prove fatal.
